If you’ve read my reviews, you know that I am a big fan of minor cannabinoids. As an avid hiker, I like to consume products with cannabinoids that possess anti-inflammatory properies such as CBD and CBG. I also really enjoy THCV for its cerebrally focused effects and appetite supression. CBN is a great addition to any sleep edible. One minor cannabinoid that I hadn’t experimented with much was CBC, or cannabichromene. I’ve consumed a few edibles that contained CBC, but not nearly as many as the other minors. That’s why I was really excited to try the WYLD Blood Orange Sativa CBC Gummies. Like CBD and CBG, CBC is non-psychoactive and promotes anti-inflammation as well as a myriad of other health benefits, but CBC doesn’t come with the same anti-anxiety effects as CBD or CBG. That was OK, because my wife and I were taking our daughter to Glowfari at the Oakland Zoo, which is a massive installation of animal-themed light structures that has become a holiday tradition in our family. I wanted my brain active and my senses overloaded. I had worked out earlier in the day, so the pain relieving properties of the CBC were certainly going to help as we walked around the entire zoo.

Each gummy contains 10mg of THC and 10mg of CBC, with ten gummies in the package for a total of 100mg of THC and 100mg of CBC. This review is based on my Minimum Effective Dose (MED), or the smallest amount needed to achieve the desired effect. My MED currently sits at 100mg of THC, so I consumed the entire package. Because my tolerance for CBC is much lower due to less frequent use (yes, your tolerance for different cannabinoids can vary!), I was sure that the anti-inflammatory effects were going to come through. If you are unsure of your MED, it is recommended to start with 5mg, or half of one gummy. Wait 90 minutes, then incrementally add 5mg as needed. Remember, your MED may change as your tolerance gets higher or lower.

The gummies come in a small plastic tub that is placed inside a box. The box unfolds to present product information inside. Once inside the plastic tub, you will find ten rectangular shaped orange gummies nestled inside. The gummies are covered in a very light coating of sugar. The aroma is very mild but noticeably citrusy, and it doesn’t feel as artificial smelling as other orange candies. The gummies are soft and sticky, and while they aren’t as toothsome as other gummies, they are definitely gummies and not jellies, as many brands who claim to be gummies actually are. As with the aroma, the flavor is mild, but the blood orange is noticeable. Maybe it was just because of the flavor profile, but I was expecting these to be more sour. They were very sweet, but there was only a mild tartness to speak of. I didn’t have any problem eating the whole package, but high dose consumers who don’t want to eat too much sugar might want to look elsewhere.

I ate the gummies on the way to Glowfari, about 20 minutes before entering. Within 30 minutes of setting foot in the Oakland Zoo, I noticed an uplifting energy and euphoria rise from my feet upwards into my body. As it reached my head, the colors became brighter and more vivid. The CBC had my legs feeling pain free but the sativa kept a bounce in my step. The cerebral energy wasn’t focused, but it also wasn’t racy. If I was an artist, I could see myself getting lost in painting, writing, singing, gardening… really any kind of art form. I was using these for sensory enhancement and pain relief, however, and they totally hit the mark on both accounts. We stayed at Glowfari for three hours, and I was engaged the entire time. The gummies finally wore off as we were heading home, and I slept great that night.

If you’re interested in experimenting with minor cannabinoids, CBC is a great one to try. It is not as readily available as CBD, CBG or CBN, and you can’t really find it isolated like those others, but if you’re looking for something to give up an uplifting, euphoric energy while providing anti-inflammatory pain relief at the same time, then the WYLD Blood Orange Sativa CBC Gummies are definitely worth a try. You may find the missing ingredient you were searching for in your cannabis regimen!
