XTabs Indica 1000 by KIKOKO

It was once again my turn to sleep in while my wife woke up with our six year old daughter. On top of this, it was the end of Daylight Saving Time, meaning we were “falling back”, giving me an extra hour of sleep (hopefully). I wanted to take something that was going to help me sleep, but, considering we had plans the next day, I didn’t want to be too groggy in the morning. Oftentimes, products that are marketed for sleep contain CBN, which, while sedating, can often leave me groggy in the morning, so matter how long I’ve slept. While there is a time and a place for products like these, this time I was going for something that would relax my mind and body while also giving me light sedation to help me sleep through the night. I had a package of Kikoko Indica XTabs, and these seemed like a great option. I’ve tried and reviewed Kikoko’s Sleep formula for their XTabs (which do contain CBN), and, while effective, they did leave me groggy the next day. I was hopeful that the Indica formula would give me similar sleep results without the grogginess.
Each Indica XTab contains 50mg of THC with 20 tabs in the package for a total of 1000mg of THC. This review is based on my Minimum Effective Dose (MED), or the smallest amount needed to achieve the desired effect. My MED currently sits at 100mg of THC, so I consumed two tablets. If you are unsure of your MED, it is recommended to start with 5mg of THC, wait 90 minutes then incrementally add 5mg as needed. Because there is no way to accurately dose 5mg from these XTabs, I would not recommend this product to any consumers new to edibles or anyone with an MED under 25mg (you can split these in two, but it is not an exact science). THIS PRODUCT IS MEANT FOR HIGH DOSE CONSUMERS ONLY!! Keep in mind, your MED may change as your tolerance gets higher or lower.
The XTabs come in a pouch with a Ziploc sealed top. The package can be a little difficult to open. You have to pinch the top and then slide the package open. It can take a little getting used to. One of my favorite things about the Kikoko XTabs is that they are terpene-specific and contain adaptogens that enhance the effects. The indica formula contains the terpenes beta-caryophyllene and myrcene, both known for their relaxing and sedating full body effects, as well as vitamin D3, which strengthens the immune system and supports bone, heart and brain health, and L-Theanine, which is an amino acid known to ease anxiety and stress and reduce insomnia. All together, the THC, terpenes and adaptogens should provide a perfect relaxing effect that will (hopefully) help me sleep through the night. Once the package is open, you can stick your nose inside and actually smell the terpenes. With nothing to get in the way like fruit, chocolate or other ingredients you find in edibles, all that is left is the spicy, earthy aroma of the terpenes. The tablets are round and a little bigger than the size of an Altoid breath mint. I was able to swallow two in one gulp with some water, but those who have a little more difficulty swallowing pills may find taking one at a time more palatable.
I swallowed the tablets as I got into bed around 11 PM, and I was asleep before the effects kicked in. I woke up around 1 AM to use the restroom, and while my body was very relaxed and I was tired, there was a noticeable difference between the Indica XTabs and the Sleep XTabs. With the Sleep formula, I could barely make it to the bathroom and had to hold onto the walls as I walked. With the Indica formula, I was much more coherent and in control of my bodily faculties, which is what I was hoping for. I was able to instantly fall back asleep, which isn’t always a given with indica edibles. There are times where certain indica edibles may contain a terpene that gets my brain going, making it more difficult to fall back asleep. The effects of these XTabs were fully in the body, though, making falling back asleep a breeze. I woke up at 8:30 AM (which felt like 9:30 thanks to the time change), and I was rested, refreshed and found no need to go back to sleep. With many products designed for sleep, I find that I have to drag myself out of bed in the morning, regardless of what time it is or how long I’ve slept, but this time, ten hours was plenty and got me exactly where I wanted to be.
A Golden Bear Award winner in the wellness category at the California State Fair Cannabis Awards for their Hybrid XTabs, Kikoko has done it again with their Indica formula. Kikoko offers several different formulas of XTabs, including Sativa, Hybrid, Indica, Energy, Calm and Sleep, each one containing a unique blend of terpenes, adaptogens and alternative cannabinoids. I have now tried and reviewed each of these formulas, and while the award-winning Hybrid formula has been my favorite, all six formulas are effective and high quality products, perfect for high dose consumers like myself. I will definitely be keeping all of Kikoko’s XTab formulas in my product rotation!
